Somerset College Celebrates the Power of Literature!
“A book is a gift you can open again and again,” an overused quotation by Garrison Keillor, rings true for anyone who loves reading. Your love for the literature can be expressed in different forms and degrees. Some readers can dedicate reading one to two books a week at his or her leisure while some colleges host literature festivals. One such example of the latter is Somerset College, which is set to host ‘The Somerset Celebration of Literature’ from March 15th through 17th.
Dubbed as the writer's festival of the Gold Coast and noted as Australia's premier youth literature festival, this Festival welcomes over 50 schools from south east Queensland and northern New South Wales, where indigenous children are given the generous opportunity to attend, thanks to the Somerset Literary Fund.
The festival is poised to attend 30 Australian and international authors and illustrators, who will take part in sessions and workshops. The Bookshop is open for book purchases and author signings. Meanwhile, adults can sign up for panel sessions, workshops, etc. Signature events, such as the Prologue Party, and the Literary Lunch and Literary Long Table with guest speakers are not to be missed, of course.
