Coolangatta Gold 2011
The marvellous city of Gold Coast and our superb Southport family holiday accommodation at Blue Water Bay invites everyone to take part on the premiere endurance race in the country. Take on a challenging feat and try your best to finish on top as you compete on this year’s Coolangatta Gold.
Happening on 25 September 2011, Coolangatta Gold is the country’s foremost Ironman and Ironwoman endurance race and brings together the top endurance athletes from all over Australia. Coolnagatta Gold holds several divisions including open male, masters male and mixed teams that will be competing in a combination of board, ski, swim and run over 46.65 kilometres. In addition, there will also be open female, masters female and U19 male categories that will race for over 30.5 kilometres.
The Coolangatta Gold is a multi-sports event that was first held in 1984. It was continued to be contested in 1985, 1991 and 1992 until it took a few years of reformation. It was then brought back in 2005 and has since included new exciting events including shorter women’s race, team event and masters competitors. In 2007, the competitive race has opened its doors and has welcomed non surf lifesaving competitors in the country.
Before proceeding with the race, competitors from our Southport Gold Coast accommodation can learn valuable pointers from renowned Kurrawa SLSC coash and World Ironman Champion Phil Clayton. He will provide a comprehensive training programs that includes daily exercise and practice schedules, dietary advice, recovery information and more.
