The Gold Coast is mostly noted by visitors for its pristine beaches, but it is also an epicentre for feature film production in Australia. With over 75 percent of all Queensland production happening locally, the Gold Coast Film Festival is the local access point and source of exciting screen culture experiences for South East Queensland residents and guests visiting Blue Water Bay Southport family holiday apartments.
Blue Water Bay invites film makers and enthusiasts to the festival, which will run from 21 November to 27 November at the Birch Carroll and Coyle Cinemas, is the premier showcase event for feature films to promote and foster budding Australian film making talents. Every year, selected films from around the world are invited to screen at the GCFF to ensure that Gold Coast audiences, including guests from our Southport Gold Coast accommodation, have access to culturally diverse films.
Family friendly outdoor screenings for kids and kids at heart are held at the splendorous Southport Broadwater Parklands, while industry leaders will provide seminars and workshops for upcoming local film makers. Meanwhile, the Japanese Society of the Gold Coast and the Multicultural Communities Council Gold Coast will be serving another slice of the Japanese pop culture after the massive success of the anime showcase and Japanese Culture day at last year’s festival.
